Getting Rid of Wrinkles

If you think that women are the only ones that deal with wrinkles, think again because men also have this problem as they age. Fortunately, there are things we can do on our own to help get rid of wrinkles.

For those who smoke, you should stop immediately. Studies have shown that this activates premature aging or what is better known as photo aging which is why someone in their 30’s will look like a person that is already in their 50’s.

Overexposure to the sun causes wrinkles. You can prevent that from happening by staying indoors between 10 am to 4pm. If you have to go out, make sure you have sun screen on that will protect you from ultraviolet A and B rays.

If you drink, you better also give up the habit because apart from health related problems, alcohol causes severe dehydration. If the body does not have enough water, the skin becomes thinner making is sag. The only solution of course will be to drink lots of fluid. Ideally this should be 8 glasses of water a day as this plays a key role in maintaining healthy skin complexion.

Aside from water, you should also maintain a proper diet. You should include here 5 servings of vegetables and a serving of fruit in our daily meals. Some examples of these that are rich in antioxidants include asparagus, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cantaloupe, guava, papaya and pineapple.

Other things that can be used include olive oil, nuts and whole grains. Since we also need some protein and meats, add fish to your diet as it contains Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids which are best broiled or baked.

To complete your diet, don’t forget to take some supplements. These should at least give you sufficient amounts of vitamins A, B, C and E as these protect us from free radicals.

For some, the presence of wrinkles is already there. When that happens, the only thing to do now is to find ways to remove it. For that, you will have to rely on creams and other procedures that can be done by a dermatologist. Some examples of these include chemical peels, laser surgery and injections.

Some of these procedures have short term effects while others which are more expensive are for the long term. You just have to get yourself examined by the specialist to find out which one is suited to your condition and of course, what is within your budget.

You should only use mild soaps when getting rid of wrinkles. This is because strong soaps does the exact opposite and only makes the skin less healthy and more prone to wrinkles forming as it kills the top layers of skin and seeping the oil out of the layers  of skin below that. If you don’t heed this warning, you will regret it with the presence in the number and deepness of these wrinkles.

Getting rid of wrinkles is challenging especially when it is already on your face and body. Regardless of what beauty product you buy, these will not go away overnight in the same manner that they appeared on your face. If money is no object, then go for a procedure.

All of us have a different way of addressing this problem and with the budget setting our limits; we simply have to use whatever resources there are to make it go away.

Easy Methods To Prevent And Reduce Cellulite

This is for those people with cellulite or those who desire to prevent it: you are advised to go on a detoxifying diet, including in it many fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoiding black tea, iced tea, coffee and alcohol.

The canned foods also need to be forbidden. Important aspects to have an eye on are the water retainer alimentary substances, which can increase the problem of having cellulite. An example can be the sodium, existing in great amounts in the salt and gravies like Chinese shoyu. Lactose (sugar of milk) can provide the same effect, so it also has to be consumed with moderation.

Choose yoghurts and cheeses that possess reduced lactose. It is also important to reduce the fat on the diet, since it contributes for the increase of cells that produce the adipose tissue, consequently leading to weight gaining, and this is extremely related with the advance of the cellulite. Associated to a balanced diet, you must practice exercises regularly.

You should rather food that contain vitamins, fibres, minerals and fewer calories, since they regulate the process of energy production in the system, besides diminishing the absorption of fat of foods and controlling the restoration of tissues, keeping your skin healthy and stunning.

Drinking water is another very important item to acknowledge. You must drink per day, minimum two litres to hydrate the body; this procedure assesses the kidneys in the toxin elimination and assists in the treatment for cellulite. Here’s a hot tip: besides all these benefits for your body, it fools the stomach by giving it a sensation of satisfaction of already eaten before.

Have a lot of meals in small portions during the day. It makes the digestion easier. You will have less appetite and your organism will have less fat to deposit on those spots we most hate, like thighs, hips, bum, etc.

Be sure to chew properly and slowly. This will slow down the digestion, meaning that the stomach will take longer to send the brain the message of the digestion, diminishing your motivation and will to eat more.

Here are some extra tips to prevent cellulite:

• Lean protein sources must be consumed, for example the egg white, white meat (such as chicken and fish meat) and lean red meat (filet mignon). Instead of fried meals, you can replace it with a grilled or baked preparation.

• Avoid food with too much fat, such as greasy pizzas, gravies, cheese, filled bread and cookies, buttered biscuits, ice-cream, etc.

• Choose having food that lack refined sugar. Some of these are the pasta, potatoes and fruits. If you feel like eating a candy, prefer a cereal bar.

• Avoid using excessive oil during the preparation of the food.

• Foods containing mostly fibre are great sources of energy and help to diminish the absorption of fat, besides contributing for the regulation of the intestine.

• Try to choose eating foods that do not contain salt in its formula, like the diet cookies, margarine without salt, vegetables and natural seasons and spices, for the same reasons mentioned previously about the consequences of having too much salt.

• If you prepare a meal, do not add too much salt during its preparation neither after it’s ready. Here’s an advice: do not place the saltcellar on the table to start with!

• Do not take sodas and alcoholic beverages, because they only provide calories and possess no nutritional value. Prefer juices or water.

• Practice aerobic physical exercises, like jogging, riding bicycle and swimming; these sorts of exercises help to burn fat and calories, consequently decreasing the cellulite.

Chemical Compounds in Sunscreen

The Sunscreen Marketplace

I was surprised to learn that the sunscreen market is as big as it is. About 4 billion dollars a year are spent on sunscreens. However, In America people are not adequately protecting themselves. Sixty percent of Americans actively seek a tan, less than 30 percent use sunscreen while on vacation, and less than 20 percent use sunscreen year round.

But times are changing. Americans are becoming more aware of the dangers of exposure to the sun and its links to Cancer and premature aging. But are most people getting protection from the sun with their sunscreen products, and are they safe? The Environmental Working Group claims that more than 84 percent of sunscreen lotions with high SPF levels actually failed to protect sunbathers against all harmful rays, they quickly lose their effectiveness, or their chemical ingredients do more harm than good.

The Aging Process and what it has to do with Sun Care Products

I had no idea that the sun contributes so much to aging. It accounts for ninety percent of the visual signs of aging. There are three forms of identifiable rays. They are UVA, UVB and UBC. UVC rays are prevented from reaching earth by the ozone layer.

That is one reason why the ozone layer is so important. UVB rays are medium rays. They penetrate the ozone layer and bounce off the surface of the skin. They burn the skin and cause skin cancer. UVA rays are the longest rays. They also penetrate the ozone layer. Then they penetrate the surface of the skin and destroy collagen and elastin underneath the skin's surface. These are the rays that cause wrinkles, sagging and aging.

It is important when looking for sunscreen products, to choose those that provide protection against UVA and UVB rays. You need to protect the surface of the skin and underneath the skin. Keeping the collagen and elastin intact will keep the surface of the skin safe from burning rays and Cancer causing rays.

The dangers involved in using most brands of Sun Care Products and the dangers of exposure to the sun

A big problem with the sun care industry is that in their attempt to provide higher SPF levels, they have had to increase the chemical compounds in sunscreen to allow prolonged safe exposure to the suns rays. A team of experts from the University of Southern California has found that sunscreen can do more harm than good once it soaks into the skin, where it actually promotes the harmful compounds it is meant to protect against.

The research team found that three commonly ultraviolet (UV) filters -- octomethoxycinnamate, benzophenone 3 and octocrylene eventually soak into the deeper layers of the skin after their application leaving the top skin layers vulnerable to sun damage.

UV rays absorbed by the skin can generate harmful compounds called reactive oxygen species (ROS) which can cause Skin Cancer and premature aging. The researchers found that once the filters in sun screen soaked into the lower layer of the skin, the filters react with UV light to create more damaging ROS. Many of the top name brands fall into this category.

The Solution

In America there is a total of seven ingredients banned from skin care products because they are considered unsafe. In Europe over one thousand ingredients are banned. So I decided the best place to find heathy skin care would be in Europe. I began to look for Pure, Safe sunscreen products with no chemicals, find out what kind of ingredients they use, and what the function of those ingredients are. This is what I discovered:

-They contain safe ingredients for UVA and UVB protection.

-Anti-aging elements to protect the top of the skin as well as the collagen and elastin underneath the skin

-Vitamin C and Magnesium which promotes healthy development of collagen and elastin

-Peptides which are protein strands that enhance the skins own ability to build collagen and elastin.
